A hand-me-down
by Glenda Gibbs
It’s one way or the other. My mother said so. In fact, she said everything is black or white, never gray.
Would that be likened to: an up and a down without anything between here and there? Or a past and future is void of present? Or we’re all good or we’re all bad? Or are we either wealthy or poor? I’m either successful or I’m a failure.
Is this thinking really true?
With ‘either – or – thinking’ I don’t have to be open-minded; I believe I am right and I don’t have to be flexible or consider another person’s point of view.
Is this thinking productive?
There is a better way …
